Frequently asked questions
When starting psychotherapy, you might wonder what to expect. While some people differentiate between counseling and psychotherapy - seeing counseling as shorter term with specific guidance and psychotherapy as a deeper, more insightful exploration - the reality is that sessions are collaborative and tailored to your needs using the best from various approaches. Our work together will blend supportive conversation with specific, effective tools to help you achieve your goals.
Your first session is a welcoming conversation where we'll explore what brought you to seek support and your hopes for our work together. There's no need to prepare any specific information beforehand. Just come as you are, and we'll have a meaningful conversation.
Yes, absolutely. While I specialize in workplace wellness and adult ADHD, my experience covers a wide range of mental health concerns and life challenges. It's often difficult to separate different areas of our lives, so we typically address life as a whole.
I'm here to discuss any life or mental health concerns you may have. If a particular challenge would be better addressed by another professional, I'll assist you in finding the right person. Please feel free to get in touch.
It depends :) This is a very personal decision. Generally, when people are feeling unwell, on leave from work, or dealing with acute performance or life issues, meeting weekly is advisable. For less urgent concerns, many find that meeting bi-weekly is best, allowing time between sessions to reflect and experiment with new strategies. Over time, many reduce the frequency to monthly check-ins for accountability, and eventually, they apply their new skills and perspectives independently.
I use a combination of client-focused, collaborative, solution-oriented approaches to design a therapeutic journey that not only addresses your issues but also helps you build psychological flexibility, discover your passions, and create a more fulfilling and vibrant life.

It helps individuals identify their strengths and resources to achieve specific goals and make positive changes in a relatively short amount of time.

The tools and strategies we will explore are effective for adults living with ADHD, but they also benefit anyone facing challenges with planning, organization, procrastination, overwhelm, low self-esteem, and emotional reactivity. We can work successfully together whether you are officially diagnosed, self-diagnosed, treated with medication, or not.
While I don't conduct official ADHD assessments or prescribe medication, we can explore common ADHD features and support strategies together. If our discussions lead you to consider an official diagnosis or medical treatment, I will be happy to refer you to the appropriate ADHD professional.
Sessions are priced at $180 for a 50-minute session, and they are tax exempt.
While counseling and psychotherapy are not covered by OHIP, they are typically covered by most medical insurance plans. Additionally, you can declare fees as a medical expense on your income taxes.
Yes, I have a limited number of sliding scale spots available to ensure access to mental health therapy for those who may not be able to afford the full fee. These spots are administered through an organization called The Open Path Collective. If you require a sliding scale spot, please let me know and I will provide you with further details.
